Description
Preface
The successful launching of the Frist Edition of the ‘Chinese made easy’ reminded me of what the ancient Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu had said that “opportunities multiply when they are seized”. Chinese sage Confucius had stated that ‘the first step in a 1000 kilometer journey’, is most important step. We are not only witnessing the dawn of a new global era but are on the threshold of new history. Pakistan has to prepare well for it. The learning of Chinese language will help us access the awesome and enormously rich Chinese soft power value system and cultural heritage without which China would not have achieved its quantum economic and social progress. I would consider my book as indeed the first step of the 1000 kilometer journey. Every small step however counts.
Knowing a foreign language, works wonders as an important means of soft power. Given the strong linkages and historical relationships between Pakistan and China, the opportunities in our cooperation can only be fully harnessed, if we know languages of each other’s. Knowledge of Chinese language will make us ‘culturally interoperable’ and in a better position to understand the culture, history, philosophy, ethics, business and societal thought processes.
My book provides smart and innovative multi-medium tools, to over come the tone and sound difficulties in learning of Chinese language. My book has been well-received in Beijing, where I launched it at the Department of South Asian Studies, Beijing University on 10 September 2012 and in Karachi and Islamabad from 5-12 October, 2012. Some School Systems, teaching institutions and boards of Education are also considering to include it as the text for Conversational Chinese Lessons.
