Description
Islam is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century. It is the second-largest religion in the world, with over 1.8 billion followers.
The word “Islam” comes from the Arabic root “salam,” which means peace, submission, and obedience. Thus, the essence of Islam is the submission to the will of Allah (God) and the pursuit of peace through obedience to His commandments.
The central belief of Islam is the belief in one God, Allah, who is the creator and sustainer of the universe. Muslims also believe in the prophets of God, including Adam (A.S), Nooh (A.S), Ibraheem (A.S), MUsa (A.S), and Esa (A.S), and believe that the final and greatest prophet was Muhammad (SAW), who received the revelation of the Quran.
The Quran is the holy book of Islam, believed by Muslims to be the word of God revealed to Muhammad (SAW) through the angel Jibril (A.S). The Quran contains the teachings and guidance of God for Muslims to live their lives according to His will.
Islam has five pillars, which are the fundamental practices of the religion: the declaration of faith (shahada), the daily prayers (salah), the payment of alms (zakat), the fasting during the month of Ramadan (sawm), and the pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj).
The message of Islam is one of peace, justice, and equality. Muslims believe in the unity of God and the equality of all people, regardless of race, gender, or social status. Islam promotes compassion, kindness, and charity towards others, and encourages believers to live their lives in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and the prophet Muhammad (SAW).
